What are Galaxies?

According to the Google dictionary, galaxies are a system of millions or billions of stars, together with gas and dust, held together by gravitational attraction. “According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe (www.physics.org).”

What are the Types of Galaxies?

There are four types of galaxies:Spiral, Elliptical, Barred Spiral, and Irregular.

 

“Spiral galaxies consist of a flat, rotating disc containing stars, gas and dust, and a central concentration of stars known as the bulge(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_galaxy).” The Milky Way is an example of this type.

 “An elliptical galaxy is a type of galaxy having an approximately ellipsoidal shape and a smooth, nearly featureless brightness profile. Unlike flat spiral galaxies with organization and structure, they are more three-dimensional, without much structure, and their stars are in somewhat random orbits around the center (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptical_galaxy).” Elliptical galaxies are small dwarf galaxies that are a fraction of the size in mass of the Milky Way.

“A barred spiral galaxy is a spiral galaxy with a central bar-shaped structure composed of stars. Bars are found in approximately two-thirds of all spiral galaxies (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barred_spiral_galaxy).”

“An irregular galaxy is a galaxy that does not have a distinct regular shape, unlike a spiral or an elliptical galaxy (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irregular_galaxy).”

10. (Dubai)Unique Architecture! For example, there is the highest tower, the Burj Khalifa. There is something funny about Burj Khalifa is that when it opended it was called Burj Dubai until Prince Khalifa changed the name. Also, there is Twin Tower which the two towers are exactly the same and the Cayan Tower which spirals up the sky but it isn't open yet.

9. (Abu Dhabi)Humungous Mosques! There are mosques on the street all looking the same and they aren't really big, just noisy. On the other hand, in Abu Dahbi there is the larggest mosque in UAE called Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The floor there is one giant carpet!! You'll love the mosque when you arrive.

8. (Dubai)Shopping Malls!! Dubai Mall the biggest mall in the whole world which is located in Dubai. In Dubai Mall there is a book store called Kinokuniya the really big book store (It's my favorite place in this mall). Also, there is the Burj Khalifa entrance and the awesome fountain show that goes on day and night. Next the Emirates Mall. In MOE(Mall of Emirates) there is Ski Dubai which is the indoor ski facility.

7. (Dubai)Fantastic Beaches! There is a public beach in Palm Jumeirah. The beach water is warm in the summer but cold in the winter.

6. (Dubai)Water Fountain Show! Every night at the Dubai Mall there is a free show which is the water fountain show. The fountain show goes on with light and music. The water fountain may look like people dancing. See the video of it!(down below)

5.  (Dubai) Ski Dubai! Ski Dubai is an indoor ski facility in MOE. Ski Dubai in area is 22,500 square meters big! SKi Dubai has two types of entrances. One is the entrance of the ski slopes and the other entrance leads to snow play area. Also for tourists there is an event! The event includes an activity with a penguin(feeding, playing etc.). 

4. (Abu Dhabi)Golf Courses! In Abu Dhabi there is a golf club named Abu Dhabi Golf Club. They have belly dancing and camel riding. Also, it is $1070 for a five night package.

3. (Dubai) Desert Safari! Desert Safari includes barbeque at the camp, desert riding, desert boarding, ATV, belly dancing, and other kinds of shows at the camp. And all of this for only $40!

2. (Dubai) Restaurants! There are over 6000 retaurants serving nearly every national cuisine from around the world. My favorite restaurant was Biella. Try it out in MOE!

1. (Dubai) Water Parks!! There are two most famous water parks at Dubai. One of them is called Wild Wadi and the other one is called Atlantis. Wild Wadi is cheaper than Atlantis but Atlantis has more rides.

The first place that factello wants to tell you about is Indonesia.
So here are the top ten reasons to visit the magical place, Indonesia.

!0. Cheap massages and other spa services.  Be prepared to pay only $6 an hour for that body massage and another $6 for a facial.  Please tip generously.

9.  You get to see wild monkeys!  Be sure to remove your earrings and sunglasses since the monkeys like to pull off and play with shiny things.

8.  Bright, healthy, and tasty food!  The food is sooo fresh that is has a very distinct, bright color that most people, particulary Americans, are not used to seeing due to today's pick-early-and ship method. There are many varieties of food and if Indonesian fare is not your thing you can find Italian or Mexican on the same block. 

7.  Breathtaking views! Indonesia is surrounded by rice paddies, waterfalls, forests, and hiking trails. Mount Krakatau is a volcanic island that's open for visitors.  The sunsets can't be beat!

6. Strong coffee!  Don't be deterred by the black, sludge-like substance in your coffee. It's tasty and gives you the afternoon kick you are looking for!

5.  The beaches!  Indonesia has many gorgeous beaches to lay on. Watersports are their specialty!  If you like parasailing and banana boats, this is the place for you.

4.  Cheap, safe, and clean accomodations!  If you stay on a local compound you can get your own bungalow with porch, free breakfast, and unlimited hot tea for about $17 a day. 

3.Friendly locals! If you need help, don't be afraid to ask.  Locals are happy to assist you.  They are welcoming and warm. 

2. Shopping!  The country has local goods for sale at various open street markets.  If you are looking for more modern goods, no worries, there are many shopping malls around.

1.  Endless things to do!  One month is not enough for Indonesia.  You can visit the beaches, mountainside, go on a yoga retreat, eat, paint, read, listen to jazz at a local cafe, see all the palaces.
